Sub/Secondary Modules vs. First Class Modules

Most Records Management software (RMS) vendors in our industry have a portfolio of product modules that accompany their core system. For example, they may have a warrants module, civil module, fleet management module, equipment management module, or personnel module, to name a few.
Most vendors develop, sell, and support them as "sub” or "secondary” modules which "hang off” of their main RMS. They are designed to provide basic data collection for the agency and a formal home in the RMS system for this specific information. In some cases, they may even use a separate database causing many problems for agencies such as redundant data entry and data collection, searching multiple systems for needed information, and limited reporting capabilities. The vendor’s core RMS solution must be purchased first in order to buy and use them.
Most vendors do not put many resources into improving these sub-modules either. There are many reasons for this. Many vendors simply do not have the resources to allocate to improving sub-modules. They are doing their best just to keep the core RMS system functioning and they do not have the corporate bandwidth to allocate any resources to these sub-modules. Other vendors may not have the expertise in these areas so they are unable to fully understand the complexities and requirements required to meet the needs of their customers. Other vendors simply do not place a high value or importance on these sub-modules.
Zuercher Technologies takes a completely different approach to developing, providing, enhancing and supporting these software sub-modules. We treat all of them as First Class Modules and put the same amount of time, energy and resources into continual enhancement of them as we do any of our other products. All of these modules are part of our ledsSuite solution. Because we have put the time and effort into ensuring that they are extremely robust with configurability options and feature functionality, we even sell them as standalone solutions.
Take for example civil process tracking. Each state, county and agency may require different functionality in a civil software package. It could entail simply tracking the civil papers, or it might require complicated financial management like calculating interest and payments, or dispersing monies to separate accounts based on percentages. Some systems may require the actual printing of the civil forms with signatures attached. We go the extra mile to understand the needs of law enforcement and public safety agencies at all levels, including an individual agency’s needs. We constantly improve these modules and provide several software enhancements to them throughout the year and zealously support them as well.
There are many reasons why we take this approach. The first is that we care. We genuinely want to improve our customers’ way of doing business by helping to make them more efficient so they can focus on other things. By ensuring that even the sub-modules of our software offer the best possible features, we can accomplish this goal.
The other key reason is that we designed and built our ledsSuite system to make sure that we are able to deliver and support these robust modules. Because ledsSuite is one application with one database, we only have one "moving part” to manage. That makes supporting and enhancing these sub-modules easier for us so that we can continue to offer more features and functionality to our customers and protect their investment in our product.
So if the software that your current vendor is providing does not meet your agency’s specific needs, even if it is a sub-module, take a look at the suite of products from Zuercher Technologies. You may be pleasantly surprised by what you see and learn about them.
