Grants.gov
This is the central storehouse for most federal grants. This site contains over 1,000 grant programs and provides access to approximately $500 billion in annual awards. Most federal programs require agencies to sign up and submit grant applications through Grants.gov. See a list of agencies that provide grants on Grants.gov.
The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA)
The online Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance gives you access to a database of all federal programs available to state and local governments (including the District of Columbia).
Office Justice Programs (OJP)
The Office of Justice Programs provides innovative leadership to federal, state, local, and tribal justice systems, by disseminating state-of-the art knowledge and practices across America, and providing grants for the implementation of these crime fighting strategies.
Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS)
COPS is the office of the U.S. Department of Justice that advances the practice of community policing in America’s state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies. COPS awards millions of dollars every year to help community policing keep America safe.
Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG)
The EMPG assists state and local governments in enhancing and sustaining their all-hazards emergency management capabilities.
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Grant Program
The EOC Grant Program is intended to improve emergency management and preparedness capabilities by supporting flexible, sustainable, secure, and interoperable EOCs with a focus on addressing identified deficiencies and needs. This program provides funding for construction or renovation of a state, local, or tribal government’s principal EOC.
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)
JAG funds support all components of the criminal justice system, from multi-jurisdictional drug and gang task forces to crime prevention and domestic violence programs, courts, corrections, treatment, and justice information sharing initiatives. JAG funds may be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, information systems for criminal justice, and criminal justice-related research and evaluation activities.
Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP)
The HSGP is comprised of five interconnected grant programs: State Homeland Security Program (SHSP), Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI), Operation Stonegarden (OPSG), Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS), and Citizen Corps Program (CCP). The HSGP is an important part of the larger, coordinated effort to strengthen homeland security preparedness.
Interoperable Emergency Communications Grant Program (IECGP)
IECGP provides funding to state, local and tribal entities to carry out initiatives to improve interoperable emergency communications, including communications in collective response to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters.
Rural Development Community Connect Grant Program
USDA Rural Development’s Community Connect program provides financial assistance to furnish broadband service in unserved, often isolated, rural communities. The grants are used to establish broadband service for critical facilities such as fire or police stations, while also providing service to residents and businesses.
Rural Development Community Facilities Programs
The Rural Development Community Facilities Programs provide grants and loans to rural public safety agencies by financing needed equipment, improvements, and services. These funds are available to public bodies, non-profit organizations, and recognized Indian tribes.
