In an effort to better coordinate and consolidate information, the South Dakota Highway Patrol has announced a new contract to create a statewide Computer-Aided Dispatch(CAD), Records Management (RMS), and Mobile Data System for their agency. Zuercher Technologies, a leading public safety software vendor, will be the provider of the new integrated system.
Currently, the South Dakota Highway Patrol utilizes different software applications for dispatch, equipment tracking, training logs, reporting, ticketing, and writing case reports. With all of these disparate systems, there is a lot of redundant data entry for dispatchers and troopers, and needed information is not as easily accessible as it could be. The troopers serve a large geographic area, and while the population is sparse in many parts of South Dakota, the state thrives on tourism and hosts over 3 million visitors each year. The South Dakota Highway Patrol takes pride in serving those visitors, as well as the 800,000 residents. They knew that an integrated, up-to-date software solution could help augment their abilities and assist them in their daily job duties.
The Zuercher Technologies ledsSuite solution was selected for its ease-of-use and configurability. All of the tracking done in different programs before will now be handled by the ledsSuite application, saving the troopers time and helping them achieve a new level of efficiency. Mobile units will provide access to all CAD and RMS data for troopers throughout the state and traffic citations will be issued electronically.
When it came to choosing a vendor, a stabile company was an important quality for the South Dakota Highway Patrol. Zuercher Technologies has been providing public safety software solutions since 2003 and has never been bought or sold and has never failed a project. The company also has a thorough understanding of state specific laws and reporting requirements in South Dakota. They provide products and services to many South Dakota local law enforcement agencies, as well as state level solutions such as the South Dakota National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) repository and Connect SD. Their level of South Dakota expertise is unparalleled in the industry.
"Switching to our integrated software solution is going to be a definite improvement for the South Dakota Highway Patrol,” stated Zuercher Technologies President Michael Zuercher. "We are always excited to undertake projects like this where the power of our mobile technology can really make a difference.”
