ledsCAD, the computer-aided dispatch system by Zuercher Technologies, went live last Wednesday at the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) in southeastern Louisiana. According to LPSO Communications Supervisor Dianna Rousse, "The new CAD system has been a productive step toward the future growth of the Sheriff’s Office.”
A week after transitioning to the ledsCAD system, Rousse is already noticing efficiency gains at LPSO’s 6-seat dispatch center, which serves a parish population of nearly 90,000 and handles around 55,000 calls for service annually. "ledsCAD has made documentation of calls for service easier and quicker for the call takers,” she said.
ledsCAD is also helping dispatch staff to promote the safety of LPSO’s 365 full and part time deputies and 80 reserve deputies. "The new audible alerts are an enhancement toward officer safety, reminding the radio operator to check the status of officers in the fields while they are busy investigating cases, doing traffic stops, or interacting with the public,” said Rousse.
Rousse credits the ease of going live with the ledsCAD system to Zuercher Technologies’ training process and extensive go-live support. "Breck Gibson of Zuercher Technologies remained on site during our first few days as we transitioned from our old system to the newer and more efficient CAD,” she said. "He was here to address questions and to make sure everything worked as we had anticipated.” As a result, the transition went smoothly and was unnoticeable to the public.
The implementation of ledsCAD is the first step in LPSO’s transition from juggling numerous software systems to managing all areas of operations with ledsSuite, Zuercher Technologies’ fully integrated public safety software system. The agency will begin using ledsMapping, ledsMobile, and ledsRecords in the coming weeks, followed by ledsJail, ledsCivil, ledsFinancial, and other modules. "We look forward to the addition of the mobile units and the records management portions of this system, which will tie everything together,” said Rousse.
