Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Chooses ledsSuite for Efficiency

Lincoln County (SD) Sheriff’s Office has chosen Zuercher Technologies’ integrated system as the solution for its public safety software needs. The agency, located in southeast South Dakota in the state’s third-most populous county, will use ledsSuite for CAD, Mapping, RMS, Mobile CAD & RMS, Civil, Financial, Jail Lite, and Reporting.
 

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office operates a three-seat dispatch center responsible for fire, ambulance, and law enforcement dispatching. Lincoln County Communications dispatches for Lincoln County, excepting the city of Sioux Falls, as well as next-door Turner County. Since its establishment in 1992, the communications center has served a fast-growing population, now totaling around 35,000.
 

Lincoln County Communications currently documents every call using handwritten incident reports and an Excel radio log. The implementation of ledsSuite’s computer-aided dispatch system is expected to provide faster recording of incident data and will make it much easier to search for past incidents or generate call statistics. The Excel radio log will no longer be needed, since ledsCAD automatically generates a time-stamped radio log as dispatchers direct responders using a quick-entry command line.
 

"We have high expectations that the new CAD will help us manage our resources more efficiently,” said Lincoln County Communications Director Todd Baldwin, "along with eliminating duplications of effort in reporting.”
 

ledsSuite’s integration includes an ongoing transfer of data from the CAD to the RMS, allowing deputies to view and build upon dispatch details for case reporting purposes. This will replace the collection of self-made Excel and Access programs currently in use by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for case reporting. According to Baldwin, “We will have a much more efficient sharing of information.”
 

"We decided on LEDS based on their customer service and willingness to customize systems to meet our unique needs,” said Baldwin. Installation of the ledsSuite system is scheduled to begin this summer.
